COVID is mostly spread by breathing in air from people who are already infected. COVID is airborne, and can remain and spread in the air, just like cigarette smoke does.
Face masks, good ventilation, and social distancing help keep you safe. Regular hand-washing and sanitising also help.
Avoid socialising in crowded indoor places - such as bars, clubs or churches.
Vaccination doesn't stop people getting COVID, or passing it to others, but it does reduce the risk of serious illness.
Once you are vaccinated, stay careful - and masked.
