Long-Term Symptoms

Some people who had COVID, whether they were hospitalized or not, continue to experience problems for several months afterwards. This is called ‘Long COVID’.

The problems include:

  • anxiety and depression
  • breathing issues
  • confusion and dementia
  • muscle weakness
  • stomach problems
  • tiredness and fatigue

Older people and men are more likely to have difficulty breathing and cognitive problems. Younger people and women are more likely to have headaches, anxiety and depression.

These symptoms and their causes are still not well understood. If you or someone you know is having problems, it is important to look for good medical help.
